Murdo Macdonald, 9 North Tolsta
Mr John Macdonald, 9 North Tolsta, has received intimation that his younger son, pte Murdo Macdonald, who had been reported two weeks ago as dangerously wounded had died on Monday of last week. The deceased, who was 21 years of age, was mobilitsed at the beginning of the war, and went to France in the autumn of 1914. He was severely wounded in November 1915, and was lying in hospital until the end of May 1916. Shortly afterwards he went to France again. “Murchadh Ian Bhig” as he was locally known, was a great favourite in the township, and will be much missed by old and young. The heartfelt sympathy of the whole community is extended to the family in their sore bereavement. The only brother of the deceased is interned in Holland.
