It is with profound sorrow and regret that we have to record the death at Portsmouth of Seaman Colin Crichton, son of Colin Crichton, Swordale. Young Colin was one of the group of bright young fellows from the district, barely 16 years of age, who joined the Royal Naval Reserve two years ago. He was confined to hospital for some months, but his friends entertained the hope that he would pull through his illness, and the news of his death last Sunday cast a gloom over the whole district. His young and promising life cut short is a great blow to his poor parents and the heartfelt sympathy of all goes out to them in their great loss and sorrow.
