Murdo Macleod, 2 Geshader

A wave of sorrow passed over Geshader some time ago when It became known that Pte. Murdo MacLeod, Seaforths, eldest son of Mr Malcolm MacLeod, 2 Geshader, was killed, in action on 13th October last. He was first reported missing and some slight hopes were entertained for his safety for a month or two until his commanding officer notified his wife that he had been killed in action on the above date. Murdo left his home in Geshader about twelve years ago and settled in Glasgow, where he was employed for some time as a railway porter and latterly on the sub-way, until he was called up about eighteen months ago. He crossed to France last April and was in many hot scrapes, out of which he escaped scatheless until the day he fell. Murdo was a general favourite and the sympathy of the whole community goes out to his two young children, his aged parents, and, his brothers and sisters in their sore bereavement.
